Argus Legal.
A corporate law firm website with practice-area content and AI-assisted intake.

A boutique corporate law firm wanted a website that reflected the seniority of its partners and made new-client intake less painful. We designed an editorial site with an AI-assisted intake flow.
The firm's site was a decade old, hid the partners behind a directory, and forced every new-client enquiry through a partner assistant who was already at capacity.
Objectives set before design began
- 01Redesign around practice areas and partners as first-class content.
- 02Ship an intake flow that qualifies enquiries before a partner sees them.
- 03Publish thought-leadership as first-class content.
- 04Rebuild technical SEO from the ground up.
Discovery
We interviewed partners about how they wanted new clients to arrive — pre-qualified, briefly, and with clear conflict-check inputs. The intake flow was designed backwards from that.
UX strategy
Practice areas as long-form pages. Partners as individual pages with publications, deals, and speaking. Intake as a short conversational flow, not a giant contact form.
UI design
Serif display type, restrained palette, and generous margins. The design signals seniority without shouting it.
Development
Next.js with Sanity CMS. Intake flow uses an AI classifier grounded in the firm's practice-area taxonomy, then routes to the right partner assistant with a summary.
AI features
- Intake classifier grounded in the firm's practice-area definitions.
- AI-generated intake summary for the receiving partner.
- Conflict-check pre-screen based on structured intake data.
Automation
- Intake → partner assistant email + task in the practice-management system.
- Automatic scheduling links for qualified leads.

- · Static generation of all content pages.
- · AI intake runs on edge functions with sub-second latency.
- · Fonts subsetted and preloaded.
- · Long-read type sized for comfortable reading.
- · Colour contrast tested at multiple opacities.
- · Intake flow fully keyboard-navigable.
- · Intake data encrypted in transit and at rest.
- · PII scrubbed from analytics.
- · AI classifier runs without persisting client-side data.
Screens & mobile experience

Notes we keep coming back to.
- 01Law-firm design is a signal, not decoration.
- 02AI intake works only when the taxonomy is real, not marketing.
- 03Partners write better than agencies do — if the CMS makes it painless.
Questions about the Argus Legal project.
Is the AI intake public?
It's on the firm's site, but sensitive fields are captured server-side and never sent to the model.
How do partners maintain their pages?
Sanity CMS — with blocks pre-designed for publications, deals, and speaking.
How is conflict-check handled?
The intake collects structured inputs the firm's system already knows how to screen.
Do you handle ongoing SEO content?
Setup and briefs, yes. Ongoing writing is optional retainer work.
