Orbit Manufacturing
A B2B manufacturing site with product configurator and RFQ automation.

A specialty manufacturer needed a website that could handle configurable products and route request-for-quote enquiries into their internal system without manual entry.
The team spent hours a week re-typing RFQs from email into their ERP. The site had product PDFs from 2018 and no way to configure specs before enquiring.
We embedded with the sales engineering team for a week. Most RFQs were the same 15 configurations in different combinations — perfect for a structured configurator.
The configurator was designed as a guided flow, not a drop-down soup. Each step reduced options based on the previous, matching how engineers actually specify.
Industrial but modern. Data-dense where it mattered, restrained everywhere else. Clean technical illustrations replaced generic stock imagery.
Next.js frontend with a Node service handling configurator logic. RFQ submissions pushed to the ERP via a scheduled sync + real-time Slack alert.

Notes we keep coming back to.
- 01B2B configurators only work when they match how engineers already think.
- 02Sales engineers are the best content authors in a manufacturing business.
- 03A great PDF spec sheet still matters more than most people admit.
Questions about the Orbit Manufacturing project.
How complex can configurations be?
We've shipped configurators with 200+ rules across 6 dependent dimensions.
How is the ERP integrated?
Via a signed webhook + a scheduled sync — whichever the ERP supports better.
Do enquiries include the full config?
Yes — as structured data plus a generated PDF spec sheet.
Can non-engineers use it?
The guided flow is explicitly designed for procurement buyers, not just engineers.
